“Tongue”
Blessings folk!
This Proverb drives home a great…difficult…point.
We all know this.
I suspect, we all struggle with this…
Pro 21:23
Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue
keeps himself out of trouble.
ESV
Oh yeah.
Controlling…”keeping”…one’s mouth and tongue.
This will keep you out of trouble.
Be reminded of the Proverbs we have already seen…
Pro 10:19
When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.
Pro 12:13
An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips,
but the righteous escapes from trouble.
Pro 13:3
Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Pro 17:27
Whoever restrains his words has knowledge,
and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.
Pro 17:28
Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise;
when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.
Pro 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Restraint.
Guard.
Cool.
Keep.
The tongue has the power of life or death.
Remember…
Jas 1:26
If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart,
this person’s religion is worthless.
ESV
Let us control our mouth and tongue by the power of the Spirit.
