Self-Control

“Self-Control”
Blessings folk!
Many foundational truths of life are expressed in varied ways in the Proverbs.
We do well to dwell in Proverbs all the days of our lives to allow the Lord to reveal things.
Today we read a Proverb that is a synopsis of a thought-thread…
Pro 25:28
A man without self-control
is like a city broken into and left without walls.
ESV
Self-controlled.
Expressed in many ways in the Proverbs.
There is no true “self-control” in flesh alone.
It is only in the Power of the Most High God that we can live self-controlled.
No pride.
No hubris.
No arrogance.
Simply the power of the Spirit manifesting Himself in those who believe.
If there is no self-control, then a person is exposed.
To evil.
To darkness.
To the ways of the world.
They are as defenseless as a city without walls.
Anything can come and go.
They will be broken.
They will be ransacked.
They will be destroyed.
…as are many people.
But remember.
Such were some of you/us!
The blood of Jesus sets us free.
The blood of Jesus restores the broken.
The blood of Jesus…
1 Co 6:9-11
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived:
neither the sexually immoral,
nor idolaters,
nor adulterers,
nor men who practice homosexuality,
nor thieves,
nor the greedy,
nor drunkards,
nor revilers,
nor swindlers
will inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you.
But you were washed,
you were sanctified,
you were justified
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
ESV
Be washed.
Be sanctified.
Be justified.
