Plague

“Plague”
Blessings folk!
God told Moses and Aaron to get away from the midst of the congregation.
He was about to consume them.
Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before God.
Based on what we have already seen, what do you anticipate?
Num 16:46-50
And Moses said to Aaron,
“Take your censer, and put fire on it from off the altar and lay incense on it and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them,
for wrath has gone out from the LORD;
the plague has begun.”
So Aaron took it as Moses said and ran into the midst of the assembly.
And behold, the plague had already begun among the people.
And he put on the incense and made atonement for the people.
And he stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was stopped.
Now those who died in the plague were 14,700, besides those who died in the affair of Korah.
And Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance of the tent of meeting,
when the plague was stopped.
ESV
Wrath had gone out from God.
A plague was sent against the people.
Why?
Because they continued to grumble.
They continued to speak against Moses/Aaron/God.
Moses knew what to do.
He sent Aaron, the High Priest, to intercede for the people.
He made atonement for them.
The censer, the fire and the incense are all pictures of prayer before the Lord.
Aaron stood between the dead and the living.
The plague was stopped.
That is interesting.
Our intercession can bring a halt to things?
Who knows what the Lord might do?
Some 14,700 died by plague in this brief time of the outpouring of the wrath of God.
How many more on the Day of the Lord yet to come?
