“It Is Finished”
Blessings folk!
Read closely…
John 19:28-30
After this,
Jesus,
knowing that all was now finished,
said (to fulfill the Scripture),
“I thirst.”
A jar full of sour wine stood there,
so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said,
“It is finished,”
and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Note the detail that we too often pass over.
“After this…”.
After all that we have seen in the gospels.
Jesus knew that all was now finished.
He then said something.
He said it to fulfill Scripture - “I thirst”.
They give Him a sip of sour wine.
Jesus received it.
Jesus then said something.
Jesus then did something.
He said “It is finished”.
He bowed His head and gave up His Spirit.
Jesus declared completion.
No one “killed Jesus”.
He gave up His Spirit.
There is a distinction.
He gave Himself for His Creation.
