“Drink Not"
Blessings folk!
Momma is still speaking…
Pro 31:4-5
It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
it is not for kings to drink wine,
or for rulers to take strong drink,
lest they drink and forget what has been decreed
and pervert the rights of all the afflicted.
She warned the King.
She warned rulers.
Warned them about drinking wine and strong drink.
Kings/rulers should not do so.
Why?
Lest they drink and forget.
So, we are talking about drinking to excess and an altered state of consciousness.
This kings, and we, are not to do.
Forget what?
The decrees of the King.
The laws and commands of the King.
But also this.
They would forget and begin to pervert the rights of all the afflicted.
Sounds familiar, no?
The king…the leader…is to protect the rights of the people.
One can’t do this drunk…as we well know.
Drink not to excess.
Eat not to excess.
