“Boast”
Blessings folk!
Often it is the little things that arrest our attention.
I just finished a podcast episode (they can be found here -
https://dalemoore.podbean.com/
).
Then I started this blog.
The same message.
The same Word.
Unplanned.
This happens more often than one would think.
God brings forth a subtle Word throughout the day.
Pro 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what a day may bring.
ESV
Do not boast about tomorrow.
We do not know what tomorrow brings.
We do not know if there is a “tomorrow” for us.
On the podcast we saw 1 Cor 3 where Paul was correcting the believers.
They were being tempted to boast in man and the world…
1 Co 3:21
So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours,
ESV
James shows us how to live without boasting improperly…
Jas 4:13-17
Come now, you who say,
“Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town
and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—
yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring.
What is your life?
For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”
As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
ESV
Let us walk in the humility of the Lord, thankful for every breath.
Boast not in man.
Boast not in the world.
Boast in the Lord.
Jer 9:23-24
Thus says the LORD:
“Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom,
let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,
but let him who boasts boast in this,
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.”
ESV
2 Co 10:17
“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
