“All Have Sinned”
Blessings folk!
Reflect on what we have seen so far.
Think.
The pivotal truth of the gospel…
Rom 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel,
for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes,
to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written,
“BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”

The great declaration of truth that the gospel is the power of God for salvation.
In the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith.
The righteous shall live by faith.
Then, the very next verse…
Rom 1:18
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
ESV
God’s righteousness revealed.
God’s wrath revealed.
Then, until Romans 3:20 or so, we see a description of the ungodly and the unrighteousness.
In Romans 1 God describes the ungodly and their activity.
He then describes the unrighteousness that is the fruit of ungodliness.
Why this extended interlude on the ungodly?
The Lord led Paul to show in Romans 1:16-3:30 that all have sinned.
All “fall short of the glory of God.”
All are guilty.
He then picks up the Good News in Romans 3:21+
